A number of states are proposing mandating CLE hours with a focus on cybersecurity, privacy, and data protection. This obligation to possess technology competency is not a new concept, as many states have already adopted the American Bar Association (ABA) Model Rule's requirement.

The purpose of the CLE program is to cover lawyers' ethical obligations and requirements, and its importance for other states. The program will also provide practical strategies, explain key terms to understand, and their relation to protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of a law firm's data.
