Lecturer Bios
Kevan Cleary Esq.
Kevan Cleary graduated from New York University and then went on to the Cardozo
School of Law. He was an associate at Cravath, working under David Boies. He now
works at United States Attorney’s office for the Eastern District of New York, where he
has litigated wetlands protection cases and endangered species importation cases.
He
recently litigated a case against a port-a-potty company which was encroaching on the
Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. He was also on the adjunct faculty at Brooklyn Law
School and Touro Medical School. He has written animal rescue articles in the New
York Daily News. He volunteers at the New York City Animal Care & Control shelter in
Brooklyn and has rescued three dogs, Sophie, Ollie and Luke.
Matt Goldweber
Matt worked in Nonprofit Development for eight years prior to joining the ASPCA. He began his career at the American Cancer Society’s Vermont chapter in 2014, overseeing several Relay For
Life events which raised money to help fund cu??ng edge cancer research and provide essential programs for cancer survivors and caregivers.
Following a move to NYC in 2016, Matt accepted a
position of Events & Partnerships Associate with Citymeals on Wheels, where he helped put on large-scale events and galas, and built many community partnerships, all done in an effort to
provide homebound elderly New Yorkers with nutritious meals.
In 2019, Matt moved back into community fundraising and began working with Make-A-Wish Metro NY as Community Fundraising Manager. While there, Matt oversaw a portfolio of events and campaigns, which raised millions of dollars annually toward granting life-changing wishes for children facing critical illnesses. Matt joined the ASPCA in Fall 2022, where he is the Senior Program Manager for the Community Engagement team.
Matt holds a Bachelor’s Degree with a double major in History and Latin American Studies from SUNY Platsburgh.
Dr. Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka

approach to conservation among the endangered Mountain Gorillas of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and their human neighbors.
She earned degrees from Duke University and University of London, Royal Veterinary College.
