Ama Karikari-Yawson, Esq.
Ama Karikari-Yawson earned a BA from Harvard University, an MBA from the Wharton School, and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She has worked in both finance and legal capacities at Bank of America, Citigroup, and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.
In 2013, a painful experience with racial bullying inspired her to write her best-selling fable about difference, Sunne's Gift. Ms. Yawson became so personally invested in spreading the book's message of healing, that she quit her high-paying job as a securities lawyer to become a full-time storyteller and educator.
Her research areas and speaking topics include diversity and inclusion, cultural change, leadership, entrepreneurship, and personal empowerment. Her life-changing training sessions incorporate storytelling, dance, history, psychological research, and legal analysis to truly propel participants toward more conscious lives.
Through her company, Milestales Publishing and Training and Development, Ms. Yawson partners with a network of impactful authors, artists, academics, and thought leaders to provide a wide array of training programs to law firms, corporations, universities, and schools. Milestales’ clients include The National Bar Association, PSEG, Marubeni Corporations, State University of New York, and New York City’s Department of Education.
Ms. Yawson is also a cultural activist and her essays can be found in the Huffington Post and The Atlantic. Additionally, Ms. Yawson can be heard on WBAI in NYC 99.5 FM Pacifica Radio on her show How to Make it in the City.
