About This Course
Using real-life hypotheticals, our panel of experts will address issues confronted by practitioners on a daily basis.
Some of the subjects that will be covered are:
- Brady violations — the criminal law versus the ethics rules;
- A defendant's right to determine strategy, even when it is insane;
- Lawyers taping their clients and disclosing the tape in defense of a criminal or disciplinary allegation; and,
- Witness preparation — avoiding getting in bed with a perjurious witness.
Our distinguished panel includes a former disciplinary prosecutor, currently Deputy Chief of Bronx DA's Professional Responsibility and Ethics Bureau; Chief Counsel, 1st Department Disciplinary Committee; an experienced Criminal Appellate lawyer, formally Law Secretary to Hon. Milton Mollen of the Appellate Division, Second Department; an experienced defense attorney currently an Associate in the Professional Responsibility Group of a major NYC law firm; and an ethics practitioner and former First Deputy Chief Counsel/Deputy Chief Counsel, Departmental Disciplinary Committee, Appellate Division, First Judicial Department.
