About This Course
New York State enacted a climate change law calling for a significant increase in renewable energy, including 9,000 MW of offshore wind energy. Offshore wind projects are typically very complex and include the involvement of a multitude of government agencies. New York State currently has three major offshore wind energy projects underway.
This CLE course will discuss new climate change laws, various stages of offshore wind energy projects, from the regulatory and permitting process, to government involvement, impacts on the environment and common threats to project development. While most understand that climate change is a problem, no one has really offered concrete solutions until now. New York State’s answer will create a grand new industry with billions of private investments and an enormous number of new jobs. Even those who do not believe climate change is caused by human activity must consider the terrific economic benefits.
