About This Course
Have you always been intrigued by the concepts of military justice? This innovative CLE will provide an overview of the military justice system, geared toward civilian practitioners who are curious about how things work in military courts or want to expand their practice areas into military defense.
The lecture will provide an overview of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (“UCMJ”), the rights of the accused in the military, the cultural differences between the civilian and military systems and the nuances of court-martial practice. Attendees will learn the types of offenses punishable under the UCMJ, the basis for military jurisdiction and how crimes are investigated in the military.
There will also be an overview of the unique military sentencing and appellate process.
