Janice Housey, Esq.
Janice Housey, JD, has more than 20 years of experience in the field of intellectual
property law. Her practice focuses on counseling clients regarding trademarks, trade dress,
domain names and copyrights. She advises both emerging and established businesses in all
aspects of trademark law. Ms. Housey routinely clears trademarks, prepares Trademark Office
filings (including substantive arguments), assists in brand name development and protection
strategies, and counsels in trademark enforcement matters and domain name issues.
Janice routinely conducts audits of intellectual property portfolios and clients' web sites, helping to
identify potential issues and mitigate risk. In addition, Ms. Housey drafts and reviews a variety
of agreements related to intellectual property issues. Through strategic global relationships with
in-country counsel, Ms. Housey manages clients' worldwide trademark portfolios.
Janice has
particular successes in assisting clients with difficult trademark matters in Latin America.
In addition to her prosecution and licensing background, Ms. Housey regularly represents
clients in oppositions, cancellations and appeals before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Janice has been lead counsel in more than 100 such proceedings. Further, she has represented
plaintiffs and defendants in trademark infringement cases in various district courts around the
United States. She successfully recovered more than 150 domain names in dispute proceedings
under ICANN's Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy.
