Brian E. Maas, Esq.
Brian E. Maas is a partner of the firm focusing on litigation as well as on the counseling of businesses and individuals in complex commercial problems. In his wide ranging civil litigation and white collar criminal defense practice, Mr. Maas represents clients in all phases of the pre-litigation and litigation process in matters pending in state and federal court as well as in arbitrations. He has a diverse base of clients with business interests in various business areas including the securities and financial industries, the film and recording industries, the insurance industry, the corporate software development business, the art world, and the construction industry.
Mr. Maas started his career as an associate attorney at Barrett Smith Schapiro Simon & Armstrong. He then served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, where he became Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division. He has practiced privately at Rosenblatt Maas Wirfel & Stolz and, most recently, at Beldock Levine & Hoffman LLP.
Mr. Maas is a member of the Eastern District of New York Civil Litigation Committee, and a former board member of the New York Council of Defense Lawyers where he also serves as Chairman of the Sentencing Guidelines Committee. He is a former Adjunct Professor at Fordham University School of Law. He is a graduate of Harvard College (AB, 1974) and Columbia University School of Law (JD, 1977) where he was a member of the Law Review. He was named a New York-area "Super Lawyer" for Business Litigation in 2008 and 2009 by Law and Politics magazine.
Patrick J. Boyle, Esq.
Patrick J. Boyle is a partner in the Commercial Litigation Group at Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz. Mr. Boyle is a successful trial lawyer who has handled complex corporate, insurance, and liability cases for more than a decade. He has served as lead attorney in a number of $100 million-plus litigations.
Mr. Boyle represents high-profile corporate clients in the financial, insurance, transportation, maritime, construction, environmental, and manufacturing industries. He has also advised corporate and individual plaintiffs in tort liability and insurance claims – many of which resulted in successful trial verdicts and arbitration decisions. He has argued a wide range of complex appellate matters involving securities, banking, tax, lender liability, and catastrophic tort liability issues.
Mr. Boyle’s clients include important government entities and public corporations. He has represented the State of New Jersey, the City of New York, the Battery Park City Authority, Citigroup, Merrill Lynch, Emigrant Bancorp., Lehman Brothers Bankhaus, Subaru of America, Inc., AIG, Marsh (USA), Inc., DSV Air and Sea, Inc., Thacher Proffitt & Wood LLP, Special Olympics NY, Lloyd’s of London syndicates and domestic marine insurers, commercial property owners, waterfront stevedores, freight forwarders, and other significant organizations.
Mr. Boyle also handles a number of significant, high-profile plaintiff tort liability actions throughout the nation, including representing the Estate of Denise Amber Lee (Charlotte County, Florida), the Estate of Matthew Cantrell (Eastern District of Texas) and Paris Wilson and the Estates of DeQuan and Tania Wilson (Hudson County, New Jersey).
Prior to joining Frankfurt Kurnit, Mr. Boyle was a partner with Thacher Proffitt & Wood LLP, where he began his legal career. He is a graduate of Adelphi University (BA, 1988) and St. John’s University School of Law (JD 1997, Magna Cum Laude), where he was an Articles and Notes Editor of the St. John’s Law Review. He is admitted in New York, New Jersey, the United States Tax Court and the United States Court of Federal Claims.
