About This Course
This CLE presentation will summarize the national laws that regulate wine cultivation, production and labeling in each of the top ten, and seven other, wine producing countries of the world. It will also name the top wine regions and wines in each of these countries. The purpose of these laws, which are essentially consumer protection laws, is to enable the wine drinker to know where the wine has come from and the grape varietals used in the wine production; essentially, the more specific the disclosed region and the types of grapes, the better understanding and expectation the consumer will have as to its quality and drinkability. Globally, national wine laws generally follow either the French or the U.S. standards. This presentation will discuss the national requirements in the World's leading wine producing countries.
