About This Course
There has been no scarcity of stories of claims against nursing homes for neglect and abuse. And with an aging population creating a drastic rise in those requiring nursing home care, the number of legal claims is rising as well.
This CLE course will offer a thorough review of the proper procedures for litigating these causes of action beginning with conducting a thorough evaluation of the claim, choosing the correct parties to serve as defendants and preparing experts with care. The course will also review the many statutes, including the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987 (OBRA) and the NYS Public Health Laws, which serve to regulate nursing homes as well as the claims that are typically made against them from unintended personal injury to negligence by nursing home employees. The course will conclude with a review of strategies for nursing homes to safeguard themselves against legal action.
