About This Course
This CLE lecture will focus on the impact civility or the lack thereof has on everyday practice. From interactions with clients, opposing counsel, judges and courtroom staff, the rules of professional conduct require lawyers to act civilly. This lecture will discuss the requirements of keeping client’s reasonably informed of the progress of their case, dealing with opposing counsel in a way that advances your client’s position in a way the does not compromise your ability to rely on working relationships to help facilitate resolution of disputes, and the best ways to get the most out of judicial interactions including interactions with courtroom staff. The world is round. What goes around comes around. Your reputation will precede you. There are resources available to aid younger attorneys to develop the skills they need to uphold the standards of civil conduct in their everyday practice.
