Substantial sums of money have been raised by crowdfunding websites. Yet, there seems to be little law, and even less guidance, for those using this fundraising approach. This CLE program will identify some of the legal and tax issues and give advisers background to understand the crowdfunding phenomena and knowledge to help those clients creating or using crowdfunding campaigns for humanitarian purposes.
