Alfreida B. Kenny, Esq.
Alfreida B. Kenny, Esq. is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law, class of
1975. She has extensive experience in fiduciary matters, including guardianships,
conservatorships, and receiverships. Ms. Kenny has been appointed and served
frequently as guardian ad litem, representing infants and unknown distributees before
the Surrogate's Court of the State of New York in probate and accounting proceedings.
She has been appointed by the Supreme Court of the State of New York to serve as
trustee of supplemental needs trusts and continues to serve as trustee of supplemental
needs trusts. Ms. Kenny has been appointed and served as guardian ad /item for
incompetents in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York and
the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. She has been
appointed and served as conservator, court evaluator, counsel to alleged incapacitated
persons, and guardian of the person and/or property in Article 81 proceedings before the
Supreme Court of the State of New York for the Counties of New York and Bronx. She
represents petitioners in Article 81 proceedings, those raising objections in Article 81
proceedings, and guardians appointed pursuant to Article 81 of the Mental Hygiene Law.
Ms. Kenny is a frequent lecturer for bar associations and other continuing legal
education programs on issues pertaining to adult guardianships. She has participated as
a faculty member for training programs and seminars on conservatorships under the
repealed Article 77 of the Mental Hygiene Law and adult guardianships under Article 81
of the Mental Hygiene Law, approved by the Office of Court Administration, in
accordance with Mental Hygiene Law §§ 81.39 and 81.40, offered by various bar
associations and organizations, including the New York County Lawyers' Association,
the Bronx Bar Association, The New York City Bar, and Practising Law Institute. She has
participated in panel discussions regarding physician-patient privilege, offered by the
Elder Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, and practical issues
confronting lawyers in Article 81 proceedings, offered by the Women's Bar Association
of the State of New York.
Ms. Kenny is a member of the panel of mediators in the United States District Court for
the Southern District of New York and has mediated cases in the United States District
Court for the Southern District of New York, as well as commercial cases in the
Commercial Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of New
York. As a result of her training and experiences in mediation and adult guardianships,
Ms. Kenny has concluded that mediation is an appropriate vehicle to resolve many
disputes that arise in adult guardianship proceedings. She has expanded her law
practice to include mediation of disputes that arise prior to the commencement of
guardianship proceedings and during the pendency of guardianship proceedings.
Ms. Kenny is active in bar association activities. She served as a member of the
Committee on Trusts, Estates and Surrogate's Courts of the New York City Bar. She
also served as a member of the New York County Lawyers' Association's Estates,
Trusts and Surrogate's Court Practice Section and as Co-Chair of the Trusts and
Estates Legislation and Governmental Affairs Committee of the New York County
Lawyers' Association. She currently is a member of the Executive Committee of the
Elder Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.
Paul J. O'Neill, JR.
Paul J. O'Neill, Jr. is a Manhattan solo practitioner
specializing in trust and estate administration and planning and
trust and estate litigation. He is a graduate of Bowdoin College
and New York University School of Law and is admitted to practice
in the state courts of New York, the United States District Court
for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the United
States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Tax Court
of the United States.
Mr. O'Neill is a member of the American Bar Association
(Sections on Real Property, Probate and Trust Law and
Litigation), the New York State Bar Association (Sections on
Trusts and Estates Law, General Practice, Chair-Elect and Elder
Law) and the New York County Lawyers Association (Estates, Trusts
and Surrogate's Court Practice Section, Co-Chair 2001-2005). He
has lectured frequently at various bar associations and written
on matters involving drafting and administration of Wills and
trusts.
John J. Reddy, Jr.
John J. Reddy, Jr. is a partner in the Law Firm of Bekerman & Reddy, LLP. Mr.
Reddy received his JD from New York Law School where he was an Articles Editor for
The ABA Journal HUMAN RIGHTS. He received a B.S. from Fordham College. Mr.
Reddy has been associated with the Counsel to the Public Administrator of New York
County since 1979 and has served as Council to the Public Administrator since 1996.
Mr. Reddy is a member of the New York State Bar Association (Trusts & Estates
Law Section), The Association of the Bar of the City of New York (Committee on Trusts, Estates and Surrogate’s Court), The New York County Lawyers Association (Estates,
Trusts and Surrogate’s Court Section) and New York Law School’s Alumni Board of
Directors.
Mr. Reddy bas lectured for New York Law School’s CLE, New Yolk County
Lawyer’s Association. The Black Metropolitan Bar Association and other bar associations as well as various charitable institutions and community based organizations on topics relating to Wills, Estate Practice and the Surrogate's Court.
Frank R. Rosiny
Frank R. Rosiny is a 1964 graduate of the Columbia University School
of Law and a member of the bars of New York, New Jersey and Florida. He practices
in Manhattan with his brother under the firm name Rosiny & Rosiny.
Mr. Rosiny chaired the New York State Bar Association's Committee on
Professional Ethics for five years. He also chaired the State Bar's Committee on
Professional Discipline, its Special Committee to Review ABA Draft Model Rules of
Professional Conduct, and its General Practice Section. He is the immediate past chair
of the State Bar's Committee on Unauthorized Practice of Law and chaired the Joint
Committee on Fee Disputes and Conciliation for New York and Bronx Counties. He has
also been a member of several local bar association committees on professional ethics
and discipline, as well as the Appellate Division's Departmental Disciplinary Committee,
where he served for six years.
He has been a member of the American Bar Association's House of Delegates,
chaired the Commercial Law Committee of its General Practice Section, and served as
ABA advisor to the Commission on Uniform State Laws.
As an adjunct professor of law for 25 years, Mr. Rosiny taught the required
course on professional responsibility at two of New York City's law schools: beginning
in 1977 at New York Law School and, thereafter, at Brooklyn Law School. His
published writings include articles on New York civil practice, as well as professional
issues and standards.
Mr. Rosiny has represented respondents in disciplinary proceedings and
applicants for admission to the bar. He has also testified as an expert in the field of
legal ethics and is a frequent lecturer to practicing lawyers.
