Finding, hiring and retaining good employees are perhaps the most difficult aspects of running a business. Add in the complication of hiring minors, interns and volunteers, and the issue is fraught with legal pitfalls.
This CLE course will review the various legal considerations in hiring minors, interns and volunteers in NJ as well as the importance of following strict legal guidelines in hiring, firing and record keeping. The course will review the minimum age requirements, explain the definition of a volunteer and an intern, delineate the differentiation between 18 and 19 year olds, offer interview strategies and suggestions and present the dangers of violating child labor laws. The course will also offer specific suggestions for avoiding legal pitfalls in hiring, firing and record keeping.
