About This Course
This CLE course explores the evolution of New York’s eviction moratorium, starting at the outset of the pandemic to more fully understand the court’s strategy to handle the evictions backlog. Courts are moving forward with their congested calendar; however, a de facto stay will be in place for tenants who apply for New York’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program (“ERAP”).
Parties should adjust their expectations accordingly as ERAP applications are likely to delay many eviction proceedings into the future. This program provides practitioners with relevant case law and a discussion of the most effective strategies.
