All lawyers, whether working as a solo practitioner or as part of a large firm, may be challenged by questions of conflict of interest in the representation of new and existing clients. The American Bar Association’s Model Rules of Professional Ethics pertaining to conflicts have been substantially adopted by states and provide guidance for attorneys faced with those challenges.

Through case studies and practical examples, this CLE session discusses ABA model rules related to conflicts of interest, including the scope of representation, confidentiality of information, current and former clients, imputation of conflicts, client capacity, declining or terminating representation, trial advocacy, communication with represented persons, and communications concerning a lawyer's services.
