This CLE program will focus on issues related to the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, which is the only state law in the country that allows for a private right of action related to the mere collection and storage of biometric information. As a result, countless BIPA class action lawsuits have been filed in Illinois and elsewhere. The program will focus on unique issues facing BIPA and biometric privacy, including the use of fingerprints, retina scans, face scans, voice recognition and other biometric identifiers. These novel issues will be presented from a compliance and litigation perspective.
